Day 7

Today I woke up and went for a walk around town. I walked by Cafe Adore, a cool cafe in town. On my first day, I saw a bagel shop called Bagelstein, so obviously I had to go. I went today and got a lox and cream cheese everything bagel. It was funny to see this brioche-style bagel coming from eating bagels in New York. It was still very tasty though. Then went to Le Cafe Lulli, which is this cool cafe a part of a designer brand. I got some homework done then headed to cheese tasting at La Fromagerie du Passage with my group (Group B). We tried Bûchette de Manon des Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Comté Tradition Jura, Fromage du Maquis de Haute-Corse, and Fourme de Montbrison Loire. My favorite was the first one. It was a younger cheese, so it was soft and milky on the inside with a very nice taste. They were all phenomenal though. The guy that gave us the tour was super cool and has an MBA from Princeton. He worked in finance but fell in love with cheese and now works at the fromagerie and does everything regarding cheese. He said that for his upcoming wedding, his cake is going to be made out of cheese. We talked for a while, and he taught me about cheese. I didn’t know that the cheese they make has a natural crust, which sometimes we don’t have in the US. It adds much more flavor and is amazing. I also asked him where the bread from the cheese tasting was from, and he said Lavarenne, which is where we went on one of the first days. It was amazing. We then had class. Class was very interesting, and then I went back to the hotel to regroup before dinner. I went to dinner with Alexi, Des, and Logan at Le Petit Bistrot in Aix. After dinner, we explored the town a bit before going to bed.
